Our Program Rationale:
1. Provides opportunity for offender to: process information, explore causes, secondary issues, develop empathy, reframe cognitions, and to develop minimally adequate relapse prevention plans from criminal activity.
2. Allows for pre-test and post-test implementation and criteria-based treatment outcomes.
3. Reinforces the message that shoplifting is a serious crime, without the program appearing punitive.
4. Duration of treatment provides an appropriate level of intensity and is somewhat proportionate in length in relation to other successful programs.
5. Requires commitment from offenders without being overly burdensome in regard to treatment compliance.
